“The park has so much to offer!”
02.03.2020

A well-known shred queen called Melina Merkhoffer paid Area 47 Snowpark Sölden a visit. We had a little chat with Melina and asked her about her opinion on our Snowpark. That’s what she said.

What was the first thing that came to your mind when you entered Area 47 Snowpark Sölden?

Firstly, the park was way bigger than I remembered it to be. The park is super creative! You’ll find small transitions between the obstacles where you can do additional tricks. That’s pretty rare in Snowparks. And there’s something for everyone, from beginner to pro!

Do you have a favorite area or obstacle in the park?

I really liked the first part. There are five nice tubes, there you can learn how to jump on obstacles from the side. Also, the whole area is pretty flat, that way It isn’t stressful between the obstacles.

You started snowboarding at the age of 15, so your beginner time isn’t that far in the past. What can the Area 47 Snowpark Sölden offer beginners?

It has so much to offer! There’s a box line where you can learn your first 50-50s. And as soon as you feel comfortable on the boxes, you can work on your rail game without having to go to another park. That’s really cool!

Do you have tips for freestyle newbies who want to have the same progression as you?

If you start snowboarding as late as I did, it’s really important to have the right shred buddies. I was really lucky and now I have the best time when I am shredding with my homies. It was also important to take my time. Of course, bigger jumps look way sicker, but the basics are all what matters. Stay on small and medium jumps until you feel comfortable in the air, board switch lots of times and do may slope tricks. That way, you’ll get a better feeling for your board and switch tricks will be easier as well.

Today you are to be found in the advanced area doing more creative runs. What can you say about the creativity of the Area 47 Snowpark Sölden?

The park has little side hits and corner jumps everywhere. You can always find something to do tricks on. And there are so many obstacles in the park! You can do a new line with every run. That’s so much fun! You don’t even have to decide between rails and kickers, you can simply do both in one run. I’m really looking forward to the next time.
