Hollands Pro In Austrian Snow!

16.02.2010

In January Wilko Mostert, chef editor of the Dutch ski magazine White, decided to make a trip to Austria. Finally, the winner was the Swatch Snowpark Sölden! With two skiers and two snowboarders in the baggage Wilko took all the way to Sölden on the 24th of January.

The plan was to stay for one week and to do a park- and spot check for the ski magazine White as well as a spot check for the snowboard magazine Taste, which both belong to the same publishing company soulonline.nl.

As we went to Sölden with a group of skiers and snowboarders for a photoshoot, I did not know what to expect. I knew they had a good park from what I saw on the internet, but I did not know how the ski-area would be. The park was already fully built: they were just shaping the last kicker from the pro-line and they looked very sweet. Not huge, not small, and very safe. Ideal: for a good session” says Wilko.

He and Mike van Mosel (Ski), Nils Jansen (Ski), Yoeri Janssen (Snbd), Jord Ras (Snbd) and Ananda Van Welij (Fotograf) fell in love with the park and the backcountry at the first sight. “When we scoped out the ski area, I was surprised to find so many good spots in the backcountry. We found a couple of drops from houses, sheds and cliffs. We found a step-up jump, and so many more possibilities for BC jumps. In six days, we jibbed everything we could find, and we still could not hit every spot. Sounds like a good reason for a second trip?”

In deed, it does!
