Swatch Snowpark Sölden with Benni Deeg & Max Horn!

27.01.2010

Last Saturday, the first shooting passed off smoothly inside the Swatch Snowpark Sölden. The crew consisted of the German Pro-Riders Benny Deeg (Amplid) and Max Horn (Nitro, Schneestern, Häxa) on the snowboards, and Filmer Basti Funk and Photographer Rudy Wyhlidal (both QParks) behind the cameras. At perfect bright and sunny weather, some awesome shots were made under awesome conditions in a truly awesome snowpark!

[Sölden, Jan 23th]… The schedule was very tight, the target was the diverse medium line and, as daylight is an extremely rare resource in the Austrian winter, Basti Funk and Benny already went up the mountain at 7:15 am with the first gondola ride to start with some basic and scenic shots soon after. According to our “filmdawg” Basti, it’s all about coordination, otherwise you won’t be able to meet the schedule:

“At such a shooting, everything is planned and you really have to hurry to cover all the topics and obstacles. This can really get stressful and mostly you can’t stick to the plan at 100%, since there always happens something unexpected. Sometimes one of the riders just doesn’t show off or a point of the schedule just can’t be implemented on scene. Then you have to decide out of the guts and often, these decision turn out to be the best ;) However, you have to stick to the plan, and even if I’d fancied shooting also on the pro-line, the focus was the medium line and there were more than 20 obstacles to be covered there on one day. Moreover, the Swatchpark Sölden is perfect for some really stunning pictures, for its unique situation and terrain. However, this also bears some minor difficulties. All in all, a really good shooting!"

Benny and Basti already had been together last year for a shooting, Max was “new” in the team, but he has known Benny for a long time.

“I was really happy when they asked me if I wanted to take part in the shooting. I came directly from the airport in Innsbruck and arrived at the others at 9:00am. The park was a little crowded, but in perfect shape and really fun to ride. We had to do a lot of hiking to cover the incredible number of all the medium obstacles, but it was great fun. I was really happy working together with the QParks team and we got warm with each other from the beginning like old friends. Everything was stylish and organized. Unfortunately there was no time to ride the pro-line this time with the new and terrific looking Oakley-Elephant box, but I’d be happy to come back and try out one of my favorite BS 5 Shifty-Shifty next time!”

As you can see, the park really presented itself from the best side which of course also added to the motivation of the crew. Without a doubt, Rudi Wyhlidal makes one of the hottest pictures at the moment and as everyone knows, he has been parkdesigner of the Swatch Snowpark Sölden for 10 years now! So no wonder he has put special effort into representing his playground in the best possible fashion. Convince yourself and watch the Gallery!

The videoclip of Basti will be uploaded soon!
